Eastern Godavari: Given the downward trend in Covid-19 cases in the state, the government of Andhra Pradesh has further relaxed curfew hours from today, except in two districts of Godavari.

The decision was made during a Covid-19 review meeting chaired by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In accordance with the new relaxations, movie theaters, restaurants, gymnasiums and reception halls can operate but must strictly adhere to Covid protocols, such as alternate seating arrangement in cinemas, restaurants with 50% capacity and the compulsory use of masks and disinfectants.

However, all commercial establishments are expected to close before 9 p.m.

The curfew will be relaxed for just two more hours in the eastern and western districts of Godavari as they continue to report a high positivity rate. The curfew in these districts will be relaxed from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and restrictions will be in place until the positivity rate drops below 5%.

The chief minister called on relevant officials to complete the establishment of oxygen production plants, at full production capacity, statewide within the next two months.

He also called on the authorities to step up immunization, prioritizing teachers and government workers, including pregnant women.

“The government already vaccinates mothers of children under five,” state government officials said.
