SAN ANTONIO – Months before resigning as director of the Bexar County Housing Authority, Tammye Trevino received a formal reprimand for repeated misuse of an agency credit card, according to records obtained this week by defenders of KSAT 12.
Trevino, who resigned earlier this year after more than three difficult years as head of the agency, received the reprimand in August after an audit revealed ‘worrying information’ about card transactions credit from HABC.
The reprimand was signed by Trevino and the HABC Board of Commissioners.
Last year, a HABC audit revealed dozens of questionable expenses, according to records.
A more detailed follow-up investigation by the audit firm identified 24 purchases that lacked supporting documentation and numerous transactions that appeared to be for prohibited purposes, according to the records.
The questionable purchases included $ 160 AirPods purchased from Best Buy in July 2019. The wireless headphones were labeled in the records as “AirPods – Exec. Dir. “
The follow-up audit also listed a series of payments made to a real estate institute as expenses that did not have a clearly defined purpose.
While HABC has a real estate and development wing, Trevino itself is a licensed real estate agency that has worked in this field outside and separated from its role as managing director, according to several sources.
