The third new case reported Wednesday, known as Case 279395, is the wife of Case 278256. The 34-year-old woman had no recent travel history.

“All visitors to affected premises are advised to closely monitor their health and minimize social interaction as much as possible for 14 days from the date of their visit or interaction. They are encouraged to see a doctor immediately if they are unwell.

The National Public Health Laboratory is performing full genome sequencing of all three cases to confirm the variant, the health ministry said.

People identified as close contacts of the cases will be placed in a 10-day quarantine at designated facilities and undergo PCR testing at the start and end of their quarantine.

Singapore reported 16 confirmed cases of Omicron variant COVID-19 on Wednesday: 14 imported cases and two local cases that are among the airport passenger services staff.
